two brothers you know we um we had a lot of magic that happened in creating

something that we were all so passionate about and I think that was one of the um

the strong suits of it and it was a place that females that women could come to

and feel really safe and feel seen and feel um like we were creating

programming for them which wasn’t always the case in in gyms it was you know

rough and Men throwing weights on the floor and a little bit and ours wasn’t

like that it was really a place where and I’m not sure that when we were creating it that that was our vision

we just wanted to create a place that we all wanted to work out at right and um

and it was a place that just had um a little more sophistication in a gym um a little bit

more manners if you would a little bit more cleanliness and hygiene and yet

great classes and wrapped with a lot of style you know to have that stylish

feeling um so yeah it was it was was amazing creating that um and still

watching how it’s developed once we sold and gosh you know it’s exciting when you

see um something that you birthed that so many years later can still be

relevant like Beyond relevant like sometimes my brother my one brother and I have a twin brother and we’ll go into

some of the gyms and we’ll be like wow if we still own this would we still

doing this like this like some of like got to let go no no we let go but we kind of laugh because we’re like you

know I think we would have changed that by now I think we would have evolved in a different way but again you know

they’re doing a great job it’s amazing I I know but you really revolutionized

yeah the industry yeah I don’t it wasn’t even just the industry I think we

created the whole Wellness craze like I remember when we were sitting in a room whiteboarding the center that we were

opening and we were trying to figure out what to name it and it was like the longevity Center

and the anti-aging Center and you know and then we were white borning everything we were and everything we

weren’t and it was like oh it’s a place you come to to preventative it was like preventative medicine and and then yeah

it prevent you from getting ill and then somebody was like what’s the opposite of illness and somebody was like wellness

wellness and we were like is that even a word yeah I mean is that even a word

today that’s a trillion doll business it’s a category that’s like it was not a

category you know yeah you know 25 years ago um so it’s so interesting like when

I look of where it’s all involved it’s amazing I mean it’s so amazing to see

like where it is I mean today I would say that Wellness longevity and fitness

are in probably the top three of what people what our future is going to be

about you know AI for sure and then that I think you know it’s Ai and Longevity

fitness health mental health emotional health spiritual health emotional health

physical health probably Financial Health and Sexual Health right but all

of that so health I mean years ago that was not the way it was like we have come

so far um for the way people are are showing up to take responsibility for

their wellbeing so far I mean I remember when I first got out of law school it

was like 99 2000 and I moved to Naples Florida and I was talking about yoga and

people were like oh oh my God that’s like Hari Krishna you know people thought that was

yeah you were joining a call to crazy crazy stuff and that was just not even

20 something years ago I mean that was still crazy stuff was yoga so I mean

times have really really changed so I want to talk about your experiences I

mean you didn’t come from you know money you didn’t come from you know a lot of things and but you’ve dealt with crazy

toxic people along the way I me you’ve had to fight for a lot of what you’ve

achieved I mean you’ve been a girl in a boy’s world you came from a big family I

mean you’ve it’s not like you sit here and you go well you know it was all handed to me I you know here I am I mean

you you’ve had to fight for a lot of what you’ve had and even

once you know you you you sold Equinox you’ve had I mean just because you have

money doesn’t mean that there’s no more storms no you still as long as we’re breathing right there’s going to be

storms that are going to come right you know it’s interesting because my little niece was visiting me this weekend and

she did she’s a teen and I I um I encouraged her to do this personal

development program this um this weekend and I went to the graduation to watch

these young people graduate and it touched my heart because I was like wow

it’s so amazing to see these young people working on themselves which one

was it it’s called Insight seminars okay I just because I just finished Master training MIT oh I know MIT yeah so

amazing yeah well Insight is in that same genre um from what I understand

because I haven’t done n but I’ve done the entire a curriculum at Landmark um this one is a little more heart-

centered MH you know so they really bring you back to a lot of times like really connecting to your heart but it

was just so beautiful to listen to these young teenagers talk about taking

responsibility and what that looked like yeah and you know that my family’s drama

is not my drama like I just have to be clear on what my Integrity is

how I show up for my life how I have boundaries for my life and oh I’m just see that go wow to

learn that at that age I wish I had that at 17 years old you know to really have

that kind of training I mean it’s just unbelievable unbelievable that we have

that today you know because we didn’t have that you know when I was 16 years old um and life in some ways life was

simpler and in other ways it was more complicated because you know if somebody

was having therapy in those days it was because you were crazy crazy you were

just crazy nobody went to therapy to have better communication nobody went to

th like in those days you were literally practically getting the shock treatment you know you were there was so much

shame around so much shame so much shame around it and you know today it isn’t it’s part of our culture

you know it’s part of our culture too and even for people that possibly aren’t

can’t afford to be in ch the they the Church offers so much stuff you know

there’s really ways to get um really amazing and just you know what’s what’s

there’s just it to access really good information on

how to help with your mental emotional and psychological wellbeing is it’s just

wonderful that it’s available so I would love for you to share some of the maybe

the biggest struggles that you’ve had to overcome because my community’s had to

overcome or or maybe they’re feeling really low they’re dealing with toxic people or they’re feeling really stuck

because I want to talk about I get to move joy and I want to have you maybe

talk about some of the things you know to the extent that you’re comfortable that you’ve had to deal with some of the

biggest struggles some of the biggest difficulties that you’ve had in your life because I want people to know that

you’re not immune no you for sure you know for me when I look
11:55
at when I start understanding what it means means to be like even a healthy

infant you know I mean when I look at the way my life started and by the way

there’s no pity party like I believe I am the woman I am today because of the
12:12
storms that I’ve had to climb through I know I would not nothing in my life

happened to me it happened for me I know which by the way is why I just I don’t
12:24
know even want to get to how you always stay so in such high vibration I I want
12:30
to talk about that too because you’re just amazing how you always do that but

I want people to see like how does she always do that despite the things that
12:42
you’ve done definitely taken work so I say that like I was a prey my I told you
12:48
I have a twin brother and we were in an incubator for six weeks and when you start learning about

the research of you know being Tak away from your mom MH and in those days it

wasn’t like they didn’t um I was like you know what you better rest these next
13:09
six weeks because you’re going to be taking two twins home and life’s going
13:14
to be you’re not going to get any sleep go and stay home and rest and you know
13:20
my mom would say they came for maybe a half an hour a day yeah and the the
13:26
hospital didn’t have in those days they didn’t know know what they know today today they have volunteers that come and
13:32
hold the infants all day long and in those days they didn’t have that so you
13:37
know here I was in an incubator for six weeks and um we know now we know that
13:47
that is it’s it it’s creates a Detachment so that automatically starts
13:54
a lot of issues you know but we didn’t know that you know but for me I have always been a

little bit anxious even as a a young child you know when my parents weren’t
14:09
there I would get afraid um so I think you know once I
14:16
started learning about infancy how life starts in infancy
14:22
I says wow that was a little bit of a rough start right um and then I had an
14:29
aunt that was murdered when I was in fourth grade oh
14:34
my God and she was um
14:40
really like I would go to her house a couple weekends a month because she
14:46
didn’t have any children and my mom had my mom had five kids at two and a half
14:52
years oh my God cuz she had two sets of twins oh my gosh uh and then my youngest sister who’s just a year younger so six
14:59
of us in four years and she always said I literally had five kids in diapers so

she was very happy when my aunt would offer to take me for the weekend so I was very very close to her um so when
15:14
she when that incident happened Not only was it
15:20
devastating um because it was murder and as a young child at that
15:27
age you just want everything to feel safe you know you just want life to feel
15:33
like life is safe we’re all good and that I learned at a very young age that
15:38
it’s not no it’s not and so and then I lost you know my aunt it’s call her
15:47
auntie re who I was very very very close to so that created a lot of um
15:54
deep uh more anxiety for me for sure and just

sadness like a lot of sadness in my heart you know
16:06
um and I just feel like

that that energy was kind of threaded for me you know after that like yes I
16:19
always you know my my happy place was dancing I love to dance and I feel very
16:26
um very blessed that I always had that because that was my Escape you know and

needless to say after my mom’s sister the situation my
16:38
mom I I almost want to say never again was the same exactly the same I mean her
16:46
father had already she was alone she was was that her only sister her only sister
16:52
and both her parents had already passed passed so and she didn’t really come from she didn’t have a lot of cousins or
16:58
anything like that wow so it was really heavy for my momh um I also watched my

mom go from like a size 10 to a size 18

in a year oh yeah so the transformation of that was
17:16
huge um yeah and just it was more the the um
17:24
erratic behavior that was associated with that you know um yeah as much as my
17:30
mom is was always a force and I know I

wouldn’t be the woman I am without my mom because there was so many I mean my mom first of all was um very successful

when women in the 50s were not successful yeah you know she had a high
17:50
position incorporating a female ret St mhm with the six kids no no this was
17:56
before she had us mom actually the day she got back from her honeymoon they she
18:04
got back she went back to work and they offered her even a bigger promotion and she was already like a district manager
18:10
a regional manager which in those days was unheard of yeah in like
18:16
19 um 59 to be a woman in corporate like that but she was a force so they offered
18:24
her a promotion when she got back from her honeymoon and she was like actually I
18:30
think I might be I’m hoping to be pregnant and they but she was 33 or 34
18:36
and they said pregnant you’re too old Oh no you’re going to have a baby like we
18:41
thought you were going to be a career woman the rest of your life and she was like I’m hoping to have a baby you know
18:47
so it’s just interesting like she was already she carved out she was a force
18:53
you know even the stuff she said to me she was like liia discipline hard work
18:59
you know consistency do your best nothing else but your best and you can create

whatever you want in your life as you did yeah that was like her like she
19:10
didn’t make me believe because I was a woman that I couldn’t do that right where I saw a lot of my friends at the

time they didn’t have that same belief system their belief system didn’t
19:24
believe that they could create anything yeah oh I’m going to be a teacher because that’s what women do or you know
19:30
they have your summer off and and that’s great but my mom somehow I don’t even
19:36
sure if it’s her words or her energy she had an energy that was you could do
19:42
whatever you want you put your mind to it you discipline you stay consistent you you know it was just embedded in me
19:51
to to believe that so yeah so needless to say after just to bring it back to
19:58
that after my aunt died my mom definitely lost a part of herself yeah

yeah yeah and the anger became much more apparent like she just it was probably always there a

little bit but she would just really kind of kind of lose it you know really oh

yeah she was she was God bless her she was so many things about her I always
20:25
like to talk about the amazing things you know about her but on the other hand she had a temper that was just you
20:33
know you didn’t know what you were going to get at home you didn’t know what you were going to get at home oh okay you know so then then that also created an

unsafety an unsafe environment yeah yeah no even before my aunt died like I cuz
20:49
my mom she was already heat she had a lot of fire you know there was a lot of fire there I would literally in third
20:56
grade run home from school climb through the window M and clean the

kitchen oh so that when she got home from work M the kitchen was cleaned and
21:08
they weren’t all cereal dishes all over the table okay just so that she would be
21:14
calmer okay you know so this is like this anxiety there so now did that cause
21:21
you to did that show up in your relationships as an adult like did you
21:28
you find yourself attracted to somebody who was emotionally
21:35
unavailable as um an adult you
21:42
know I realized that I had a very hard time connecting
21:51
with men trusting men now part of it could be because my aunt was murder by
21:58
her husband who by the way was a doctor MH so I just

had I had a hard time trusting and really connecting with men and the truth
22:12
of it is when I really look back I when it came to like who I
22:20
am I didn’t have a lot of confidence yeah I think what happens is we end
22:27
up subconsciously picking people who are emotionally unavailable like cuz we’re
22:34
it’s not like we want that but we end up I was emailable well yeah I mean I you
22:40
realize you know you you mirror what who you are and I was clearly emotionally
22:47
unavailable um I was for sure a pleaser pleaser I wanted to I wanted to please
22:54
everyone MH um I very rarely spoke my truth yeah

um and if I did if I got it in there I was kind of always having to figure out
23:07
how to say it so you weren’t going to get mad I worried so much
23:14
about what other the other people’s feelings like over the top to the point
23:20
where I didn’t focus in on my own feelings yeah I would I would just kind
23:26
of shove my feelings yeah to make other people happy yeah because you’re so
23:31
afraid that that person’s going to leave yeah they’re going to leave they’re going to abandon you they’re going to um
23:37
so yeah I definitely had a lot of that that anxious attached uh style right

yeah so did that cause you to attract
23:49
narcissistic people into your life

I I think I’ve attracted all kinds of people for sure I mean I think they’re there I

mean I’ve definitely had my share of people um who are a bit narcissistic um
24:10
but I think I knew how to deal with that like I I could

kind of I could work around them I felt like I had
24:25
some Mastery yeah around it like but what’s amazing today is that I’m free

Free like I have I have cut through yeah that well I

mean it’s it takes knowing your worth takes knowing your worth and it also takes you know going through a lot of

stuff and and staying staying in it staying in in your inside work right um

doing the work if you say ohia you’re always positive or you’re always and

when I look at the amount of work that I’ve done um and I constantly

doing um and and even with that like you’re not I’m not perfect trust me I
25:10
saw myself a couple years ago when somebody was really pushing my buttons pushing those buttons I mean
25:18
it’s like I brought the Italian girl from New Jersey off the shelf I was like bringing her right out
25:25
and then I had to go wait a minute you know what this has nothing to do with me this is
25:31
their insecurity their ego their stuff like it’s not mine and it still hurt like and I had to
25:39
stay in the the sadness of it cuz I was so
25:46
hurt but it was easier for me to get angry and lash out at you and point a
25:51
finger at you and even though a lot of it really didn’t have that much to do
25:56
with me

and yeah we sometimes I know for me being in the sadness is harder than
26:10
being in the anger right it’s easier to be in the anger it’s easier like you’re
26:16
pointing a finger it’s like but to be like wow I’m really like my I’m
26:22
heartbroken you know I’m and I’m heartbroken that this has gone like that

and I I always do this going a person I always go hey how am I responsible how
26:36
like I’m always looking where am I out of Integrity here where am I some
26:43
because it you know it takes two to tango but you know what I love about
26:48
that I love that you just said that because the fact that you do that the

flip of that is that you all also then get to be the cause and creation yeah of

your life right so if you don’t say where can I take responsibility for this

because if you’re in a victim mode right then you’re not causing creation exactly

of your life I mean I have to admit I if I had to say what what

are what are the energies that I lo the most it’s victim yeah like I don’t know

why but when I hear people going into victimization the hair on my back goes

up I really it’s like like I so the last
27:39
person I ever want to do is do that to me so I really say okay how am I because

you know there’s a saying that you know the road to Hell could be made on Good

Intentions MH you know it could still be the good in intentions get you to hell

so just because your intentions are good there’s still something misaligned you know and that’s what I look at like wow

my intention was never for that to happen but it did and and how can I

number one not do that again and number two how do I clean it up you know I’m

always about getting in communication like I’m the queen of that yeah to a

false to the point where I’ve had you know people say to me me hey you know what Lumia that works for you but that’s

not working for me I don’t want to be in communication I talk it all out all the time I don’t want to talk to these
28:37
people I don’t want to be in communication that’s your fantasy not mine and it kind of is especially when
28:44
it’s like family or good friends or something well but some people can’t like if you’re talking about a
28:50
narcissist or whatever like talking to them is really not a good thing it’s not a good thing and that’s what my um

I have a mentor that I work with and I said well this one I’m going to avoid

yeah and and at first I feel really bad about it and he goes you should and I’m
29:09
like and he goes they’re dangerous and and I’m like okay um but
29:18
leave it leave it alone I have a I I always say send them light but over
29:25
there you know I I need more of that because I’m a little
29:31
bit like everybody gets us everybody’s going to grow everybody’s going to evolve

maybe it’s going to be different like I’m like a little bit of that like let’s give everybody another chance let’s and

I do think that that’s a slippery slope and I do think that I have probably to
29:51
have a better boundary on that for sure but like I said you know you’re just working on it you’re finding out

yeah and you never stop growing like that’s the beauty of it right but I do I

am seeing that now that there are certain situations and with certain
30:11
people that you must love them from afar yeah send them light but over there yeah

that’s what I say because if they’re not self-aware and they’re not willing to take responsibility then you know you

just can’t do anything about them yeah I want to get to move Joy thank you because love it it’s just I am so

blessed and grateful that I got to experience it with you teaching it it’s

so incredible and so really what move Joy is it’s it’s really it’s movement

with joy I mean it’s really is what it sounds like but you take ancient wisdom

ancient power ancient sacred uh

wisdom love energy and you put it together with exercise but it’s really

it’s it’s a blend of all sorts of incredible breathing and movement and

it’s just yeah it’s so incredible and so I’m going to have you talk about it but I

why you’re even doing this like why do you even me to do this now you’re like you’re like first of all you know I’m at

a place in my life where I need to do this I can sit on the beach in Tulum um

in C con one of my favorite places and just stay there and really enjoy my life

um and I do incorporate that as well the truth is Rea I I never planned

on building a brand that wasn’t in my like wasn’t in my thought process but I

went through a really dark two years

honestly probably the darkest almost the darkest two years of

my life didn’t see it coming

and I all the things that I was normally doing my meditation my gratitude you

know um I had done you know my my

journaling my connection just all that I was doing I was still doing some therapy

some EMDR I was really trying to get out of it and the truth of it was it was

like I couldn’t get out of this great Cloud I just couldn’t like every day I

just I’m trying no I smile you know I have a saying fake it to make it you
32:51
know I’m doing I’m with my crystals I’m doing my mantras I’m you know
32:58
I went and did you know Joe dispensas I did my 30 days of the pineal gland yes

I’ve done that too i’ done exactly all the way up to the thing and I did a 48

days doing everything and yeah I’m getting a little better a little better but nothing I still had this cloud and

you one of the doctors said you know I think we should put you on a little bit of an anti-depressant linia you know

just to get you the other side and not that I’m against I just don’t do
33:29
medication I haven’t taken so much as an A or an aspirin in you know 17 years

like so for me to take something I really and I was almost kind of feeling
33:40
like maybe this is going to be my new normal you know maybe my new normal is just going to be like in this Cloud

because I couldn’t shake it and I

uh I literally was coming coming walking to the bed one

morning really early I gotten up at like 5:00 and I all of a sudden

there was a pillow on the side of my bed and instinctively I ended up on my
34:09
knees and I was just like praying I’m not I haven’t been I’m not a
34:16
prayer like that I don’t pray like that like I always need myself more spiritual
34:22
than religious but I just started crying and I was like God I have to turn this
34:28
over to you I I I I need I I need help like please show me the way how am I
34:36
going to get out of this Cloud that I’m in please God show me the way and and
34:41
I’d lost a lot of weight I was you know about 20 PBS lighter and my doctor’s
34:46
like we got to get this weight on your your estrogen levels are starting to
34:51
tank your hormones are tanking us my nervous system was just so shaken like
34:57
inside of my nervous system I could feel it my resting heart rate which is usually pretty low was high like I was a

mess just really a mess and and I is it okay if I share
35:13
that you had gone through a lot of different changes in your life at that point yeah I mean I you know it was just like I was going through I went through
35:19
a divorce I was going through that I went through a financial guy that you know decided it was more important for
35:26
him to make money than me make money and it wasn’t just about the money I was like I trusted this guy MH you know and
35:32
then I had another situation with someone else who very close person to me
35:38
who you know kind of went on the attack and accused me of horrible things and
35:44
everyone he was you know talking to he was just saying these horrible things about me was just it was breaking my
35:50
heart it was just painful like Beyond

painful and so I I’m on my knees and I praying I in bed

I keep kind of just praying one day after the next and I’m getting ready to go to sleep like three or four nights

later and I hear move know God I don’t know who it was

but I hear move and I come up and I go move where do you want me I thought he was saying move out of my house cuz now

I was in in this big house by myself maybe I need to get out of the house maybe if I moved out of the house I would that

was what I needed to do to change the energy right change what was going on so

I was like but I love my house and I love my land and really like I’m sitting there talking to air I’m saying but I

love it really you want me to move anyway next day or two days later I’m outside I have this big tree out in my
36:50
backyard that I love and people make fun of me because I sometimes hug it I have for years I hug trees people coming and

I’ve I’ve seen that tree it is a beautiful tree so so anyway but I’m sitting there and my music was on and

it’s very interesting because to this day I don’t even know how this happened or why it didn’t it wasn’t premeditated

I just got up and I started moving to the music and I started doing breath

work that I know I studied for many years with an amazing teacher Chris Tai

he’s unbelievable and I I love his breath work and I started doing his breath work yeah but while I’m moving

doing the breath work while I’m moving and and it’s like sematic breath work well at first it wasn’t it was just more

like while I’m moving and then I start praying while I’m moving God and doing
37:47
affirmations and I am strong and you know and I’m just doing it and moving
37:54
I’m a dancer so I put choreography together you know so I’m moving it I’m
37:59
doing and I’m and I noticed about 20 minutes later I was like oh feel good

I’m like yeah getting feel good I just oxygen into your cells yeah and then I

started doing it every day every day I go outside I have my bring my music and

I would just start moving moving affirming moving

connecting visualizing visualizing I was visualizing my mind and my body strong

and spiritful and joyful and love filled and my confidence and I just kept doing

that I kept doing it and I was already teaching an online class to women more
